William Neel is a Brighton High School, Class of 1948 Alumni. Admiral Neel was one of six brothers and sisters to attend the University of Rochester at the same time.
He attended U of R and then the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Admiral Neel's military career included: Commander Task Force 75 in the Pacific & Indian Oceans in 1979-80. As a Commander 1968-71, he was Chief Engineer of the Navy's first nuclear powered
Aircraft Carrier, USS ENTERPRISE. As a Captain 1972-76 he was the commissioning Skipper of the
USS South Carolina, a nuclear powered Cruiser.
Brighton is very proud to have Admiral William Neel as one of its finest Alumni.
